James Vollbrecht: Co-Founder, Chief Technology, Strategy & Operations Officer

James is a self-described, “tech geek” whose passion for technology started with an Apple llc back in 3rd grade. From video games to building ‘sweet rigs,’ James has worked in technology development, software development, strategy and operations throughout his career. He leads the technology group within FlyingTee with a focus on sharing the “wow” experience of FlyingTee’s “Golf 2.0.”

He and his brother John grew up working family businesses, from “Vollbrecht’s” clothing stores to the manufacturing floor of Unit Parts, and enjoy working together in the same context that they experienced growing up.

Prior to starting FlyingTee, James worked in Seattle as the Director of Market Strategy for Intellectual Ventures (www.intellectualventures.com), a leading technology incubator and intellectual property asset fund. He worked as an Associate Principle for Partners in Performance International, an Australian-based consultancy focused on operations for industrial clients in mining, utilities and beyond (www.pipint.com). He spent six years with the Dallas office of the Boston Consulting Group (www.bcg.com), working up from Consultant to Principal and winning the Novare Award for Project Leaders, Americas.

James earned his MBA, with Honors,  from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and was awarded degrees in Economics and Politics at Washington and Lee University, Magna Cum Laude.

John Vollbrecht: Founder & Chief Executive Officer

With his MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, John is the business mind and strategic planner behind FlyingTee. His role is to grow the company by cultivating strategic alliances and partnerships. Brother to Co-Founder, Chief Technology, Strategy & Operations Officer James Vollbrecht, John and his family have deep-seeded connections to both entrepreneurship and their passion for golf.

In John’s words, “FlyingTee truly does change the way golf is practiced, played and enjoyed. We have been working on this since 2012. To see an idea that was originally on a sheet of paper turn into a 53,000-square-foot facility that provides people with a new and exciting entertainment option, while helping grow the game I love and has meant a lot to me over my life is pretty incredible.”
